3-9x is THE classic size for hunting scopes.
The Droptine family has two 3-9x models, this one with a 40mm objective end, and one with a 50mm.
The two different models in this size:
- #200017 has the focus set at 100 yards, and is matched for centerfire rifles.
- #200019 has the focus set at just 50 yards, making it a great choice for .22 LR ammo.
The 3-9x40mm is compact and lightweight, with a nine times magnification that provides enough distance for most hunting situations.
The simple, rugged reticle has holdover for precise shots at extended ranges. The low-profile turret is finger-adjustable. A separate eyepiece and power ring allow for flip-up lens caps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by coyote down from excellent quality for the money This scope is Awesome. The clarity and brightness of the lenses is incredible. The adjustable objective and magnification ring turn very smooth and work excellent. The scope is even crystal clear on 14 power and the turrets move the crosshairs as they should and the scope passed the box test. What else can i say. Things made by burris are top of the line.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Randy C from First impressions Just bought this scope but haven't mounted or used yet. Very clear, nice weight and really like the simple ballistic plex reticle. Having a uncluttered reticle that gives the shooter a quick guide for use for ranges up to 500 or 600 yards is far more useable to most shooters then all the adjustment knobs, etc on most heavier scopes. If I could change anything...the top vertical line on all reticles unnecessarily clutters view and benefits nothing. I would make heavier portion of crosshairs farther from intersection and the hash marks seem too close together and too uniform to be realistic trajectory for most popular cartridges, but I haven't fired it yet so could be off on that. Nice scope, good weight and size, good useable reticle and good price.

Is the first burris rifle scope I have owned went to the Web site burris offers and tried to trouble shoot the problems I was having with not being able to get it sighted in has no up and down moa. The only way to move the crosshairs is with the windage moa turret. I have changed rings and mounts nothing has solved the problem. Done to last option going to send to burris on Monday hopefully they can solve the issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mikee from Perfect for the .22LR Since having purchased a 3-9x40 Droptine with the .22LR focus almost 18 months ago I have been impressed with the increased number of accurate hits I've been able to achieve in the 75m to 100m range. Using subsonic CCI ammo out to 100m on rabbits used to be impossible, now it's reliably achievable. I was so happy with the scope I've just purchased a second one for my other .22LR. I like the clarity of the optics, I love the ballistic plex and the overall scope appearance is stylish. A winning combination!

Rated 5 out of 5 by firejack from Burris Droptine 4-14 x 42 I bought this from Cabela's to put on an AR-10. I've got Burris Signatures on 3 other rifles and they are top notch/best scopes ever made. This new one cost less than half the price, is just as clear and is covered by the Burris Forever Warranty. Great deal, not like other manufacture's lower priced scopes that deliver lower price by cutting quality.

Rated 4 out of 5 by BrandonA25 from All around great scope I've been using the Burris droptine 3-9x40 for a couple months now, it's an excellent rim fire scope and is quite clear to look through out to 2-300 yards. I haven't had any problems with it and it's treated my right, the only reason why I didn't give it the full 5 stars if because I find that it's fairly firm to adjust the magnification dial, it makes it pretty hard to maintain a steady rest while looking through the scope and trying to zoom in or out to a different power.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jack Pine Savage from I think its a great Product!!!! I bought this scope and put it on my .257 Roberts. Bore sighted it it took only 6 clicks up and 10 clicks right. Took it and shot one shot at 50 yards, hit a quarter inch to the right and good on up and down. Went to 100 yards and shot two rounds grouped good it was 3 inches low and another quarter to the right. Made the adjustments to the scope as needed shot a three round group that you could dam near cover up with a nickel!!!! Great way to start out with a new scope! Six rounds shot and it was ready to go! I do reload though so Im sure that helped also. Went to 200 yards and shot 5 rounds to see how it grouped 3 out of the five could cover with a quarter and the other 2 were just out side the group about a 1/4 I can't complain there. The next day took it out hunting to harvest a doe, a doe walked out at 175 yards one shot right in the boiler maker, all said and done got a great scope and a great tasting doe!!!!! I think its a great scope for the money no complaints on my end!

Rated 5 out of 5 by William 1960 from Absolutely the best scope in this price range ++ My first Burris was a 1988 Burris Signature series 3x9x40 on a Rem 700 30-06 recommended by my gunsmith. I hunt hard in numerous states, have harvested more than 100 deer, 80 or so antelope, dozen elk. I have used owned Nikon Monarch, Weaver Grand Slam, Leupold VX3, Sightron 3, Vortex Viper. Currently I have a Signature HD on a 300 mag and a Droptine 4.5-14's on a .308 and .243. My opinion after 45 years of hunting is that Burris is the most rugged, dependable and robust of all the brands I have tried. I put the quality of the Droptine equal to my VX3, for less than one third the cost. It is easy to sight in, and holds zero perfectly. Put a 4.5 x 14 on your kids deer rifle and you will be buying one (or more) for yourself.

I purchased it about and year ago and was sighting in my new rifle and after 6 shots the front part of the scope broke. In the process of trying to get it returned. There was one DropTine with a 42 mmr lens, i had always used 50mm so wasnt sure if I'd be happy with this scope but I bought it ,was set really close out of the box, had it for 2 seasons now on my 308 Scout and let me tell you I'm very pleased with it and haven't noticed much difference between the 42 or 50 mm ,great scope reasonable price ,as well as a Awesome warranty which it doesn't look like I'll ever need ,Happy hunting guys & girls good luck ,be safe & take a child hunting anytime you can ,God bless

Rated 2 out of 5 by Divertoph from Tried to reset my turret to zero and it broke I've had my 4.5x14 droptine for 2 years. Never had a problem. Today I was checking my point of impact for an upcoming hunt. After some minor adjustments I tried to zero my turret as per the instructions as I've done several times begore. The numbered ring suddenly started to turn very easily without any real effort at all. I do not have time to send the scope in for repairs as my hunt is in 2 weeks. I own 6 burris scopes and this is the first one to let me down. I'm curious if anyone else is having problems with zeroing as well.

Love the clarity and since I reload and have a chronograph I am able to fun the ballistics program on your website and get distances for the hash marks. The only thing is I would like scope covers for the scope. Especially because flip up covers aren't very usable with the AO adjustment.

Have to either cut 3” off my stock or climb way up on it! Never can work for hunting. Glass seems nice but the windage turns but doesn’t “click”. Elevation clicks just fine though.

Hi my name is Hugo.... I don't quite understand the windage adjustment were by you lock and zero the ring via pen or sharp object.....Can someone please explain
The low profile adjustment knobs on Fullfield E1
riflescopes feature a finger adjustment for both
windage and elevation.Once you have successfully
zeroed your scope, you can set the zero on your dials
with these simple steps:
1.With turret caps removed, grip or push down on knob
top firmly to keep knob from turning.
2. Put pen or other small
object into the small hole
located on the dial, 180º
from“0”.
3. Keeping firm grip or
pressure on the knob, use
the pen to turn the dial
back to zero, lining up the
number zero with the
white indicator dot.Only
the numbered dial should
move – do not allow the
entire knob to move or else you will alter your
windage and elevation zero settings.
