Thermal Handheld is rated out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by laholtz2 from Turned my scope into a thermal in seconds! Using the adapter I attached the Burris Clip On to my scope. Since my scope was already sighted in I was able to hit targets in the dead of night out to 800 yards in seconds! The nice thing about the Clip On is you can use it as a hand held to scan and then quickly attach it to your scope to hit your target.
I tried the Burris Clip On at a range next to a pile of other clipon thermals. The BTC was the easiest to use, it had the fastest refresh rates (instant), it had similar image quality to the next best option and surprise surprise it was nearly half the price of all the others!

Rated 3 out of 5 by MAL_SBU from Can’t give it 5 stars, poor release and confusing. First let me rate the product, I bought the BTC35. Given its price point and that it is from Burris, I expected better. I will highlight the best point of the BTC35, but ultimately I would consider either waiting for Burris to fix its release or strongly consider the options out there.
If you are looking for a feature rich product, this isn’t it. No saving images, no tracking, and right now, it’s only so so thermal monocular.
What it does have in features, it does very well. But for this money, I’m not sure it’s the best option.
For the features: the Hot Track is a nice feature. Though if there are multiple similar heat objects, it can get busy fast and you either end up turning it off or it simply becomes ignored noise.
The red hot feature is probably one of it best features. It does a great job of making those hot sources much more visible. Only negative, is if you are in a blind in pitch black, it quite bright and that bright red (understanding this was tested with varying the contrast and brightness to different values to test) gives you a bit of retina burn. So you find your target, but you’re left with that spot in your vision for short while after.
The highest points go to clarity in its class. This thermal sensor is slightly higher resolution that most of the competitors in this class, and it pays off. I would say it’s closer to a 640 res clarity than most of the 300 range sensors. The refresh rate is the only negative, it’s not bad and crystal clear when properly focused and remaining static. It’s when you pan a bit too fast that it is visible. You can see the screen shift slightly and are almost guaranteed it will nuc at that point giving you that brief freeze of the image.
I, like most others not sent a full kit to demo for a review, have to wait for the mounts to test this fully. At that point, I will post a revised review. There are no adapters currently available to actually clip it on. So you’re not buying a clip on, you’re buying a “Clip-On Capable” product. I agree with the other review that this is arguably a challenge to the marketing. Most other manufacturers include at least one mount that satisfies the name sake and advert of being a Clip On device. As it is, it is Clip On Capable, once they actually release the adapters and mount, which if they range as other could be an additional $100 per unit.
Burris being the company they are will no doubt reach out to early adopters and supply them with something, but for now, it is what it is.
The device does come with a USB cable, with no defined purpose. It comes with a charger with no purpose. It burns through CR123’s faster than the first gen NVG’s I was issued years ago (1-2 hours on Energizer CR123’s). I do own IMR batteries in 2400mah, I get just under 2 hours of use on them. For a long night hog hunting. You’ll be practicing a lot of battery discipline and I would put money on the fact that a lot of owners will go through a lot of batteries (likely to become waste in the woods) because it takes too long to shut it off. You have to hold the power button for nearly 8 seconds to turn it off. It says five, but that’s five once you get to the count down. So 3 seconds on a long press to get to the 5 second countdown to shut off.
Honestly Burris, we expect you to make quality products and to be pragmatic in your approach. You missed the boat on this product and should have stuck with the monocular and scope until this one was better thought out.
I will likely look to return this for something I can put to use and suffer the reduction in image quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by GoodBullOutdoors from Tons of features - outstanding handheld thermal! I've been using the 35mm version for a couple weeks now and the video quality is outstanding! The image is clear enough to see individual tree trunks at 800 yards and animals are sharp and crisp. The ability to control it from my phone is $$$ so I'm night blind in one eye and it makes it much more user friendly. I really want to try this with blood tracking because you can see the thermal signature from hoof prints several minutes after an animal has passed by. I can only image how easy it would be to track an animal shot while bowhunting!

Rated 5 out of 5 by laholtz2 from BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK - HOT TRACK for the WIN! I had a chance to test out the Burris Thermal Riflescope at a range next to a pile of other thermal scopes (Pulsar, ATN, etc). The BTR outperformed all the other products in terms of refresh rate and ease of use. It was right at the top level of image quality and it had features that I wouldn't hunt without like HOT TRACK. I had my mindset on Burris and then I found out the price point, I can practically buy two of these for one of any other lower-performing competitor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by GoodBullOutdoors from Like freaking magic! I don't know how this works - just adding a thermal onto the end of a scope - but it does! I shot a couple hogs with this setup and I was able to place the bullet right in the skull at night for an instant, humane kill. The definition was easily clear enough to place shots exactly where in the vitals you need and the color palettes make animals stand out clear as day - even if its in the middle of the night.

Rated 5 out of 5 by GoodBullOutdoors from Easy to use, crystal clear thermal for night I tried this on hogs down in Texas and killed my first wild hogs on a pitch black moonless night with this thermal scope. Accurate and easy to use would be the best way to describe this thermal scope. The different color palettes really made them stand out making them easy to target and shoot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by laholtz2 from BEST HANDHELD THERMAL DEVICE ON THE MARKET I tried the Burris handheld at a range next to a pile of other handheld thermals (Pulsar, ATN, etc). The BTH had the best image quality, it was the easiest to use, it had the fastest refresh rates (instant) and surprise surprise it was nearly half the price of all the others! It was really cool to be able to control the thermal unit from my phone using the app, that also made recording a breeze!

Rated 1 out of 5 by 1234 from Worthless I'm returning the one I just bought, big waste of my time, out of the box I can't see a rabbit 15 yards away from me.
I don't understand why a company like this build such a worthless device

can you recommend an external battery pack for the BTC50? Thank you
I recommend the TNVC TRB or one of the ones from dark night outdoors

After I sighted in my BTS35 the reticle is no longer in the center of the picture. Did I do something wrong?
Due to it being a digital zeroing on essentially a camera screen, you can end up with this happening. It's normal in thermal scopes since they don't use an optical system like a traditional scope.

How do I use an external battery pack with the BTS 50 thermal scope? I only see the 4-pin slot.
They use the same 4-pin port.

Hi, Is the scope capable of being programmed with the type of round you are shooting? Can you add weather data and the bullet travel is auto calculated?
There is not a ballistic calculator feature in this scope.

What is the battery life on your therminal scope? Internal or external batt?
The scope uses an 18650 battery and has a life of about 2-4 hours. They can also accept external power.

Can you recommend where to get replacement batteries? I understand there is alot of counterfeit 18650s and would cry if I ruined a $3000 scope with a $7 battery.
I recommend https://www.18650batterystore.com/

Can I remove the provided mount and install a 3rd party quick detach mount with the BTS?
I'm not aware of any that will fit the BTS. That being said, a different mount would not void the warranty.
