Here are a few of the most frequently asked questions we get on the FastFire.

How do I mount a Fastfire  to my Glock MOS?

The Fastfire 3 sight will easily fit on the Glock MOS! Please click here for specific instructions

While the FastFire 3 works great with optics ready pistols like the M&P C.O.R.E. and Glock MOS, we do not recommend the FastFire 2 for these systems. The earlier version of the FastFire uses rear locking screws, which may conflict with the rear sights of your handgun.

What is the difference between the Fastfire 2  and the Fastfire 3?

The Fastfire 2 uses an automatic brightness setting, toggled by an On/Off switch while the Fastfire 3 uses a push button to activate its settings which are: Auto, High, Medium, Low, and Off.

The Fastfire 2 uses a CR2032 inserted into the bottom of the sight while the Fastfire 3 uses a CR1632 inserted into the top of the sight. The Fastfire 2 has a 4 MOA dot and the Fastfire 3 can be purchased in either a 3 MOA dot, or an 8 MOA dot. Both sights have the same footprint.

Why is my dot not a perfect circle?

There are two main causes for this.

The most common reason is a dirty emitter lens. Even if you can't see it, there could be debris obstructing the dot. The emitter lens is small, and located behind the mounting screws toward the back of the sight. Clean carefully and thoroughly with rubbing alcohol and a Q-tip. We recommend cleaning both sides of the main lens in the same way.

The other reason is related to your eyesight.  An astigmatism can cause the red dot of any red dot sight to flare or develop a “tail” like a comet.  A quick test for this is to rotate the sight in a circle. If the tail remains in the same position as you turn the sight, the issue is very likely your vision.

What kind of recoil will this sight handle?

All Burris Optics are rated to withstand beyond the recoil of a .50BMG. We frequently see our Fastfire mounted on high recoiling firearms such as the .460 S&W, .500 S&W, as well as large caliber rifles.

Does the Fastfire have an automatic shut off?

The Fastfire 3 has an automatic shut off after 9 hours of use. The Fastfire 2 will go into a battery saving “sleep mode” once the protective cover is put on the optic and the switch is in the ON position.

What is the battery life on the Fastfire?

Fastfire sights will have approximately 5,000 hours of battery life.

FastFire™ 3 is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 308.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tough little sight Simply put, this is an outstanding sight, especially for the money. I bought two; one for a Beretta Neos (with a non-moving rail), and one for a Glock 34. I was most concerned about the one which would be "riding the slide" on the Glock with regard to durability. My concerns were unfounded. Both sights have functioned perfectly. You'd expect the one on the .22 pistol to be fine, and it has. So has the one on the Glock. No blinking, no turning off, has held zero perfect through 450 rounds so far. I did take to care treat all screws with Loctite and to let it cure for a full 24 hours before shooting. I'm very glad I didn't buy more expensive red dots; there was absolutely no need. The lifetime warranty sealed the deal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Couldn't Be Happier I love my fastfire 3. As soon as Burris placed the battery where it could be removed without removing the sight I was sold. Its low profile and handles the abuse of my shotgun. My only complaint is when its time to turn the sight off you have to click the button through all of its settings before it can be turned off. It only has 4 settings but that is a just more times a button gets pushed. Also the lowest brightness setting is last and hard to see the dot on bright day and you could think you have it turned off. I feel It should have a hold down 5 seconds to turn off and thats the only thing I would change. Its outstanding otherwise. Thanks Burris for the greatest customer service ever

Rated 4 out of 5 by from old eyes young again I bought a Fastfire II and Burris rear site dovetail base for my Ruger mark II pistol. My eyes are not young any longer and I could not be confident of hitting my targets with the sights on my pistol. The FastFire solved that problem in a very satisfying way. I liked the sight on the.22 so much, I bought another to mount on my Redhawk 44 mag. The FastFire has worked out just as well on the revolver as it has on my .22 pistol. Took the Redhawk deer hunting and shot 2 deer using the FastFire. It was an awesome experience. I'm very pleased with this sight, though not having to remove it from the mounting base to change battery would be nice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from takes a licking and keeps on ticking Ifbought my fast fire six months ago. It sighted in as easy as any other red dot I have and is bright enough for any condition I have been in. When I was at my gun club last week the rifle that my ar-f3 was on feel out of the gun rack when I was at the bench shooting another rifle. The rifle with the ar-f3 on it fell about 4 feet and landed on concrete hitting the ar-f3 first. One of the protective wings was slightly bent in. Other than that the sight held zero and is working fine. I can't find any torture test reviews online for the fast fire 3 but if it can take that abuse and hold zero and work just fine I think that is all I can ask of a red dot sight to hold up to

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product/value Bought this on Amazon to complement the AR 536 which is mounted on my Windham AR-15. It is very light weight and doesn't add much bulk to the sight. It is very well made. The auto brightness feature works very well and the windage and elevation are easily edjusted using a thin blade screwdriver. I read several reviews on the FastFire II and the biggest complaint was that you had to remove the sight to get to the battery compartment. The FastFire III has the battery compartment on top and that's why I chose that modle. I have fired approximately 500 rounds since adding the optic and it has held zero. I am very satisfied with this purchase and would recommend this to a friend. I could have spent more on another brand but so far I don't see the need.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FastFire III/MTAC combination for the AR-15 A little over a year ago, I bought a Burris MTAC scope for my AR that came bundled with the FastFire red dot. Owing to family and work obligations, I didn't have the opportunity to really evaluate the system until quite recently. The scope was great, but I couldn't reliably turn on the FastFire, and it would often turn off with recoil. Not good. So I contacted Burris, concerned about a year having gone by. Burris immediately suggested I return the FastFire for evaluation and repair, preparing me for a several weeks turn around time. In a little more than a week, a new FastFire was returned to me (at no charge), and this one functions perfectly. I am very satisfied with the scope/dot combination. The quality and performance is top notch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect co-witness on M&P Core I installed the Burris Fastfire 2 Red Dot in 15 minutes and within 20 had it It co-witness with no issues on a M&P core Ported 40 cal. 5 inch barrel. The main thing to remember when adjusting the sights is do do exactly what the instructions says to do. Loosen the locking screws by half a turn this will allow you to adjust the sight on the gun take it off with out any movement on the screws while you tighten back the locking screws. This sight is very small and easy to use. It is the same size as the Doctor red dot. The quality is great and I found no issues with the workmanship. The clarity of the lens is incredible. It comes with lifetime warranty and for under $200 I see no reason to spend money on optics that cost half of the gun. I really like that it has an off and on switch which is what I wanted. Tips for Co- Witness

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For Aging Eyes....This Does The Trick! This is the second FastFire III I have purchased. This unit was for my wife's Ruger 22/45 Lite which I matched up with a mount from MaddMac's Precision Tactical and she couldn't be happier. I had narrowed my search for a red-dot down to a couple of units, but in the end I went with the FastFire as I already owned one and it has been great so far. My calculation was why try something else when I'm not sure I will like it, and also it keeps me with parts commonality so I can carry a spare battery or whatever and it will fit either unit. Have only been to the range a few times with either unit, but so far zero complaints.

Looking to mount my FF3 on a Rock Island 22TCM/9MM switch barrel 1911 style pistol with what looks like a Novak dovetail at the rear. Is the 410322 mount applicable?

can the FF3 be mounted on a S&W M&P shield?

It can, but due to the small size and subcompact nature of the handgun, it might be a bit unwieldy with a red dot on it.
