DOT SIZE:
- Generally speaking, the 8 MOA dot is most popular for short range shooters, especially with handguns or shotguns. The larger dot makes target acquisition quicker.
- The 3 MOA dot is most popular with rifles, or anyone wanting more pin-point accuracy, as the smaller dot covers far less of the overall target area.
TECH NOTES:
- The FastFire 3 will easily work with the Glock MOS system. Click here for instructions.
- The FastFire 3 will work with virtually every "optics ready" handgun. However, the Burris supplied mounting screws may not be the correct length for every single handgun. Please contact the firearm manufacturer for specific screw lengths necessary for correct mounting.
Here are a few of the most frequently asked questions we get on the FastFire.
How do I mount a Fastfire to my Glock MOS?
The Fastfire 3 sight will easily fit on the Glock MOS! View Specific Instructions
While the FastFire 3 works great with optics ready pistols like the M&P C.O.R.E. and Glock MOS, we do not recommend the FastFire 2 for these systems. The earlier version of the FastFire uses rear locking screws, which may conflict with the rear sights of your handgun.
What is the difference between the Fastfire 2 and the Fastfire 3?
The Fastfire 2 uses an automatic brightness setting, toggled by an On/Off switch while the Fastfire 3 uses a push button to activate its settings which are: Auto, High, Medium, Low, and Off.
The Fastfire 2 uses a CR2032 inserted into the bottom of the sight while the Fastfire 3 uses a CR1632 inserted into the top of the sight. The Fastfire 2 has a 4 MOA dot and the Fastfire 3 can be purchased in either a 3 MOA dot, or an 8 MOA dot. Both sights have the same footprint.
Why is my dot not a perfect circle?
There are two main causes for this.
The most common reason is a dirty emitter lens. Even if you can't see it, there could be debris obstructing the dot. The emitter lens is small, and located behind the mounting screws toward the back of the sight. Clean carefully and thoroughly with rubbing alcohol and a Q-tip. We recommend cleaning both sides of the main lens in the same way.
The other reason is related to your eyesight. An astigmatism can cause the red dot of any red dot sight to flare or develop a “tail” like a comet. A quick test for this is to rotate the sight in a circle. If the tail remains in the same position as you turn the sight, the issue is very likely your vision.
What kind of recoil will this sight handle?
All Burris Optics are rated to withstand beyond the recoil of a .50BMG. We frequently see our Fastfire mounted on high recoiling firearms such as the .460 S&W, .500 S&W, as well as large caliber rifles.
Does the Fastfire have an automatic shut off?
The Fastfire 3 has an automatic shut off after 9 hours of use. The Fastfire 2 will go into a battery saving “sleep mode” once the protective cover is put on the optic and the switch is in the ON position.
What is the battery life on the Fastfire?
Fastfire sights will have approximately 5,000 hours of battery life.
